| Kamil's History
Kamil loved to travel, and was a first class Vagabond
who within his first 16 years of life put his foot on all seven
continents in most intriguing him corners of the world. He visited
isolated Antarctica in 1999.
Kamil travels around the World.two times. Traveling first with parents,
and later by himself he demonstarted independence and reliance on
mastering by him knowledge of foreign languages, fluent in English,
French and Spanish. Of course the native language (Polish), was
never replaced. He visited 35 countries. He was a recipient of scholarschip
which opened him doors to study in 2002 in Marymount College w California.
The events at Marymount College tragically prematuraly ended his
life.
He will not be able to continue his life passion and to publish
his Travel guide based on personal experience. mHe will never be
able to continue to shoot films about world exploration of to continue
to perform as a PRO scater. He had so much to offer guided by his
CREDO: "The world is a book, and
a man, who does not travel reads only one page." Saint Augustyn
He tragically died on September 17, 2002 at beautifull wild Inspiration
Point Cliff, while attending dreamed for several months Marymount
College at Rancho Palos Verdes in California in his first month
of studdy. So much a head of him, broken by a sudden and unexpected
unplanned death. On September 17, 2002 he was only 19 years of age

My name is Kamil Szybinski. Due to providence I was born on the
30th of March 1983 in Chicago, USA. I live with my parents and my
brother in a small, cozy house just outside of Warsaw. My mother
works in Polish Airlines "LOT", my father is an electronic
engineer and he works in telecommunication. I have got a good relationship
with my brother who manages his own company and multiple web-sites,
we help each other a lot. Animals such as our cat and fish enrich
our household.
My parents tried their best to secure me a good education. That's
the reason why I have attended to schools like the American School
of Warsaw (ASW) and the French School "Rene Goocinny".
I speak and write fluent English, French and Polish. Also for four
years I have been learning Spanish in my school. Additionally I
took language courses in France and Spain.
My hobbies are: discovering the world through travelling and literature,
sport and informatics. My passion is discovering other cultures,
meeting new and different people. I have traveled with my parents
since I was a little kid, and for these last couple of years I have
been travelling on my own. All this traveling was based on discount
tickets from my mothers' job. From these trips I have learned how
to find myself in difficult situations, how to be open to people,
how to respect local customs and different cultures. I've also gained
respect for the Creator and nature. Over all I've traveled through
35 countries, including Easter Islands, Hong Kong, Korea, Antarctica,
Hawaii, Christmas Islands, France, China and Australia and many
more. In total I've stood foot on all seven continents.
For 8 years I've been practicing stunt rollerblading. Together
with my brother, we were ones of the first people practicing this
sport in Poland. I was the Polish junior champion in 1999, at the
moment I'm in the top 5 seniors. We released the first two Polish
semi-amateur rollerblading films. I've written many articles concerning
the sport to various magazines, and I have also conducted a TV program
on this topic. Recently I trained Capoeira for a year, an African
Brazilian martial art, which teaches self-control and concentration.
I work on my computer systematically. I use it to learn, to write,
to communicate, and to relax. One important source is of course
the Internet. Furthermore my computer serves me to set up amateur
video films about rollerblading and our voyages.

I cannot rest. I keep wondering how in a country like the United
States something like what happened to my family is possible. Despite
our son, Kamil, being a US citizen, we were still treated as foreigners,
from Poland. The American Dream was presented to us in the form
of Marymount College, a breathtakingly beautiful, fantastic school,
with a family atmosphere of caring and warmth towards international
students. They even arranged for financial aid which constituted
80% of the costs of schooling. However, the institution, it turns
out, was a nest for drug addicts. The chief of security recently
resigned because he could not overcome the problem and claims the
college officials ignored it and covered it up. Kamil's friends
attempted to put him down because he was different. The person responsible
for students in the dormitories, Ms. Armstrong, cruelly tantalized
Kamil, by not providing him with packages which were sent from home
in a timely manner. She was arrogant and unpleasant to him.
She tolerated graffiti like "DIE" on the
dormitory premises, which we believe may have been directed toward
our son Kamil. As the tragedy unfolded, our boy's body was found
a significant distance from the base of a cliff. The directors of
Marymount College did absolutely nothing to help bring light to
the matter. They hindered the actions of the private investigator.
Their actions to assist us parents were only superficial. They did
nothing to try to figure out the source of the strange telephones
to Poland which occurred after death and originated in the dormitories.
The police investigators were mainly concerned with who performs
the body recovery, which led to a conflict between the Sheriff's
department and the Fire department. As a result Kamil's corpse several
hours in the summer heat and was removed late in the afternoon around
5 PM. It was at that time that the cause of death was suicide even
though there was no evidence to substantiate it. To this day several
items of information are unclear. The exact location where the body
was found is not available. Nobody knows what happened to the blood
stain that must have been present after an accident of that magnitude.
And why the body was soaking wet and yet the backpack remained lightly
moist. The fact that the detectives initially stated that Kamil
died late at night and then changed their mind and declared it was
in the morning raises an eyebrow. For some ambiguous reason the
investigation was abruptly wrapped up and finished after this conclusion.
Furthermore we are upset that the authorities refused to show us
our son's body and several times avoided the issue and finally they
determined that it is unnecessary because Ms. Armstrong already
identified him. They ignore and discount all evidence brought forward
to them by the parents. They refuse to question and interview the
witnesses involved. Only after significant pressure by the family
do they promise to look into the matter.
The main concern of those conducting the investigation
is when the parent's visa to America will expire so that they can
get rid of us. After all, the father is just a Pole, not an American.
We were warned not to disrupt the privacy of the students and school
and threatened us with a lawsuit if we do. We were told we are too
aggressive and take up too much of their time.
We did not want to dispense with the body of our
son until they handed us a copy of the autopsy. We got this document
after 3 months of waiting. Since it contains errors and inconsistencies
we take it to the Sheriff's department and ask them to explain.
And we are given an ultimatum. They will tell us privately, under
the condition that we do not disclose the information to the media.
One of the workers at the Sheriff's department promises that they
will explain the 5 key points, and they do. We asked for one more
favor. Since there was no conclusion as to the manner of death in
the autopsy, that the body remain in the custody of the Sheriff's
department. We got a yes reply. We wait for a long time. We left
contact information in several places in the Sheriff's department,
to friends, to the Polish Consulate in Los Angeles, and to acquaintances.
People on site who can act on our behalf if need be. Suddenly in
January we get word that Kamil's body has not been picked up and
that there is no contact information available and that it will
be cremated. We stopped the destruction in the last minute. We rush
to Los Angeles and arrange a meeting with the coroner and the Polish
consulate. We receive a notice that we are supposed to picked up
the body within 30 days according to California law. We find out
that his clothes were thrown in the trash and a pack of Camel cigarettes
which we felt was evidence was lost. Also we found out that the
Coroner, Ms. Oetker, illegally determined that the cause of death
was suicide without consulting her superiors. This decision effectively
stopped the investigation process. In the next few months, thanks
to Polish journalists, we got in touch with a famous and experienced
private American Coroner. They agree to perform an autopsy and to
compare their results with the Sheriff department's. After two months
we receive only a cover document, an acknowledgement that they have
started the autopsy. Now we are caught in a struggle to ensure that
the services we paid for will be rendered. We continue to be left
in the dark and do not understand what is going on. Above all we
do not know with exact certainty where they found the body, where
he died, and how it happened. Is this because we are foreigners
from Poland? Will somebody help us understand the circumstances
of the death of our son?

Why do I want to study in the USA?
First of all, it is important to know that I have gotten to know
various cultures. The Polish culture is very close to me since I
have been living in Poland my whole life. I was raised in a Polish
family, I went to a public school here, and I have many friends
that are Polish. I started seeing cultural differences, while attending
the American School by the US Embassy. There, not only did I begin
to learn about my native culture, but also being in an international
milieu gave me the opportunity to meet people from different parts
of the world. I met friends and visited their homes to see how they
managed their lives. Due to financial problems I had to quit my
school. At that time, the French language fascinated me. I was able
to learn French by going to the French School Rene Gościnny by the
French Embassy. Being in the French environment, having new friends,
meeting their families while going into their homes I have learned
more about their customs and a way of life. Additionally, I spent
one summer in a family in France, and the following two years I
took language courses in Paris. In the French school, I decided
to take Spanish classes. Subsequently, I went to Spain multiple
times in order to take language courses. Classes were organized
in an international environment. There I lived in a Spanish family,
where I have tried their meals, met Spanish people,
and deepened my knowledge of their culture. I have understood the
differences in their lifestyl and thinking which brought my attention.
What are my future plans?
My future interests will be the areas of economics, business, administration,
and informationsystems. In addition to what I have experienced until
now, I would like to dedicate my college studies in a way so that
later in life I would be able to manage international relations. What
interests me the most are the two main economic blocks in the world,
North America (NAFTA) and Western Europe (EU). I would like to understand
the mechanisms of their economies, as well as the laws by which
it is ruled. I strongly believe that economical and political relations
between both "poles" will dynamically develop even more,
and experts in these fields will be in great demand. Additionally
I am going to try to improve my knowledge of languages, such as
English, French, and Spanish. I also believe that the knowledge
of Polish language might be useful. Eventually, I plan to learn
the Russian language, too. Furthermore, I shall devote a lot of
time to learning computer skills.
Mastering psychological techniques are surely going to come in handy
in many situations, like for example negotiating business contracts.
In addition, my objective is to accomplish a solid general education.
The USA, a country where there are many nationalities seems as a
interesting place to live and learn. Because in the future I thought
of engaging myself into relations between America and Europe, I
would like to get to know the American way of life and the American
economic approach. Also the American school system, to which I have
attended suits me the most. It is a system based on high requirements,
but good learning conditions at the same time.

http://www.kami.info The son of Elizabeth and John, Kamil Szybinski
born 03/ 30/1983, Chicago IL, was citizen of the US and Poland.
The Szybinski family domicile is in Poland near Warsaw at the village
of Wesola, 7 Kochanowskiego street. Kamil Szybinski received top
quality private schooling education which very few can afford anywhere
in the world and specially in Poland, in Eastern Block countries
at very high cost to family. He graduated in year 2002 from High
School M. Goscinny affiliated with the French Embassy. Prior to
he attended school at the US Embassy in Warsaw. Kamil was fluent
in English, French, and Polish. He was presently mastering Spanish
language for past several years. He knew less than perfect, and
was able to communicate in several other languages. He was a young
full of life Polish-American with no complexes or limitations, easy
to get along with, and well liked by all his colegues and friends.
He was an frequently mediating conflicts between the youth. He was
born an adventurer and traveler. Together with his parents as well
by himself he visited over seventy countries on all seven continents.
He was a Champion of Poland in inline scating. He was very active
in all athletics. He mastered Brazilian martial art Capoeira. He
was a free lance writer with published numerous editorials in Polish
press. He was the producer of several movies on the subject of extreme
rollerblading and his numerous international voyages, which allowed
him to generate substantial income to support himself. Kamil was
the web developer and after he left for the US co-author of very
popular primary internet site in Poland about international adventures,
travel and voyages: http://www.dookolaswiata.pl He was a very young,
dynamic enterpreuner with precisely defined targets for his future,
aiming toward entrpreunership and international diplomatic career.
His career interests are well defined on his webpage. Kamil interests
were to ideologicaly "merge" Europe with United States
of America.
His dream to study in US was fulfiled after he encountered over
the Internet in year 2001 educational Counselor Mrs. Liz Lesan.
Together both discussed, negotiated and structured targets for solid
personal development of Kamil's career for the future. During 2001/2002
Kamil visited Mrs. Lesan in US and together paid visits to several
colleges within Los Angeles basin. Together the Catholic School
Marymount College at Rancho Palos Verdes with very extensive background
in development of career of international students was chosen. Marymount
College secured for Kamil excellent and very high scholarship and
grants totaled about or close to U$ 25,000 per year. In may of 2002
Kamil had extensive complete medical and psychological evaluation
in front of official Military Commission performed by top military
experts of Polish Government. His mental and physical health was
found to be top rated by official government standards granting
him highest score Category "A". In July of 2002 in addition
to military medical commission he completed also all medical tests
as required prior to admission to Marymount College.
After graduating in Poland on September 15, 2002 he arrived in
US, where Mrs. Liz Lesan and her family in her husband extended
thier hospitality and he became an honor guest of their household.
Husband of Mrs. Lesan is a well recognized psychologist. On or about
September 21 Kamil moved to available to him Marymount College dormitory
with 3 room mates. Kamil's room mates in that dormitory were from
very well to do families, consistently manifesting their privileged
socio-financial wealth. Kamil at all time was in telephone communication
with family in Poland. Being well acquainted with the internet the
channels of communication using such media as life chat sessions
over ICQ with the family were established. Kamil wasn't and couldn't
be homesick as some are claiming now to cover up below described
harassment by the room mates at school. Kamil consulted with his
father what courses he whould take, and how to manage his free time.
He earlier expected that his acclimatization may not be flawless,
and he was well prepared to face it. He himself made the decision
to come to US and to remain in US for several years, there was no
pressure from his family to manage his life. There was no family
pressure on Kamil, as allegedly reported by room mates covering
up for acts of harassment. He was free to do what ever he wanted.
In the first week of his relationship with the room mates he signaled
several times that he is being anoyed and harassed by his room mates.
He did not have an automobile and wasn't always interested in participating
in all the noisy parties staged by his room mates. He made plans
to prepare himself to obtain drivers licence, as documented in E-mail
in discussion with his older brother.
He wasn't however immobile or isolated as he had with him in-line
scates which were his preferred means of commuting as a previous
Polish rollerblade National champion. He had great potential for
income to be generated from commercial endorsements through his
skills of rollerblading. Kamil was a host of own TV show on National
Television in Poland about Rollerblading. His potential created
by family throug solid education, and through his athletic ability
was unlimited with very high income potential not only on Polish
market scale, but also on international athlethic scale through
sport endorsements. There were agents who expressed an interest
in having Kamil endorsements, however together with family he decided
that the education was of higher priority. Kamil spent all the weekends
with Lesan family and their friends. Kamil stated that his determination
was to obtain education and not to frequent drunk sessions and noisy
parties as his room mates at that time preferred. Kamil was used
to spend time alone as his parents were also frequently away from
home.
The Mother is Senior Airline Stewardess with Polish Airlines (PLL
LOT) on International routes to US. The Father the communication
engineer with working with US firms like Ameritech, Motorola and
Alcatel. Due to mother employment both parents could at all time
travel almost for free with no restriction or delays to US visit
son. Kamil could also at any time fly almost for free for extended
weekend to Poland to visit family. Kamil was receiving packages
from mother with his delicatessen. Kamil had many friends in US,
professor at University of Daytona, who's address as a contact was
in the possession of College in case of urgent contacts. Also family
friend a pilot of American Airlines in Chicago and close friend
the Polish Counsel in Honolulu, in Hawaii. He could at any time
br presented with possibility to visit them should he desired. Kamil
also had a portfolio of teen friends all around Los Angeles and
other US States, by whom he was admired. Mrs. Lesan was at all time
authorized to monitor his educational progress and to communicate
with school should such need arrive. After school started there
was no problem with the communication, language or any educational
problems at the school. This was confirmed by the school. School
psycholog confirmed in writing that Kamil was highly intelligent
who spoke beautiful English. About 28 of September there was a conflict
with roommates at the dormitory. Group of drunk students broke into
his room and attempted to molest him. Someone stick the antennae
from cellular telephone in his anus. Kamil run away and telephoned
father for the advice how to respond to this assault. He was chased
by substantially larger student and attempted to throw him on the
ground. Kamil as a master of Capuerio quickly overcome him within
few seconds. The witnesses of this event commented "Kamil is
COOL". Kamil however became frightened by this event of assault
on him. Parents suggested that he contacts school psychologist (David
Draper) with complaint and for an advise how to deal with savage
attack on him.
Psychologist apparently contacted room mates but that appears to
be not effective. At the same time for unknown reason he directs
Kamil to see psychiatrist Tejinderpal S. Rai M.D.. Psychiatrist
Tejinderpal S. Rai M.D. seized the opportunity to make easy money
not wasting to much time charges Kamil U$ 300 for visit and negligently
diagnoses Kamil with bogus bipolar I Type disorder, nonspecific
depression handling him on September 09, 2002 Professional Samples
of ZOLOFT, scheduling next appointment for September 20, 2002 and
instructing Kamil that next visit will cost $ 300.00. He orders
Kamil to take ZOLOFT after return home. To cover up for his diagnosis
of alleged Bipolar disorder he orders CBC, comprenhensive metabolic
panel, TSH tests, urine drug screen just to justify continuing need
for treatment and to justify the use of the ZOLOFT. Typical US kids
screening when psychiatric is trying to cover up for possible medical
malpractice lawsuits due to wrong diagnosis. There was no history
of Bipolar diagnosis or any treatment with Lithium. Kamil after
taking ZOLOFT signals to his father that he have problems to concentrate,
can not sleep. In communication with parents Kamil reports that
there he is being harassed by the room mates and he doesn't fit
with them. Kamil dispatches message to his father that he is terrified
and wants to communicate directly with father. Kamil's father makes
immediately arrangements to travel to US within a week to meet with
Kamil, as school is not properly responding to Kamil's complaint.
In the mid time Kamil contacts friends in Hawaii, and receives an
invitation to travel to Honolulu for few days to "decompress
the stress" and to relax. Father sensed son's fear and very
serious problem since room mates only interests and all conversations
are about cars and "available" girls. (Who and what and
when ...)
Father suggests that Kamil write a note to Mrs. Lesan as soon as
practical, while reading himself for travel to Rancho Palos Verdes
to discuss the issues in person, sensing major problem with the
room mates. After taking ZOLOFT Kamil appears to be very upset and
less certain, his voice changes is different. During telephone communication
he appears to be somehow confused, the communication with father
suggests that his confidence appears to be weak, shaken or appear
to be confused likely by administration of ZOLOFT. First time in
his life Kamil expresses fear of something. Liz concurred with fathers
decision that he will travel to US within the week to discuss the
events at school. Kamil arranges for the appointment with school
psychologist David Draper for the September 16, 2002. Father made
arrangements to arrive to US on September 14, 2002. Kamil calls
father and requests that father will postpone his arrival for a
week, since there are some affairs which he needs to solve before
fathers arrival. Father senses over the phone that Kamil appears
to be very agitated, irrational, fearful and somehow confused. He
signals that Mr. and Mrs.
Lesan would be away for a week and that would be a better time.
Kamil spent weekend of 13/16 September at home as a guest of Lesan
Family. Now on September 16, 2002 he surprisingly in the telephone
conversation reveals that the decision to postpone father arrival
to US a week wasn't his decision. The dialog is as follow: Father:
Who's decision was it? Kamil: I will tell you when you come to US.
The decision is made that father arrives on September 20/21. Kamil
is taking steps to arrange hotel for father arrival. On the same
day there are multiple telephone calls between Kamil and Father.
Father informs Kamil that mom send him a package from Chicago, which
he should receive by September 17, with his favored rarytases. Father
informs Kamil that he dispatched him U$ 200 sent by daughter of
friend from Dayton. Those are money for sport equipment which Kamil
wanted which should arrive on September 17, 2002. They are discussing
the latest PRO roller skate equipment, which father is bringing
for Kamil since he wants to demonstrate his skills. Last conversation
with Kamil was 17 September about 4:00 am California time. Kamil
complains he can not sleep, and that room mates as usual make to
much noise. Kamil sounds like he fears something, or is drunk, his
voice is abnormal, appears to be confused. His mood appears to be
unstable, he sounds as he have lost all the enthusiasm. Father suggests
that he writes and publishes news for his website http://www.dookolaswiata.pl
discussing his travel to US. Father requests that if Kamil can not
sleep, that he will call him about his work on website within an
hour back. Kamil is not calling. Father calls him all the time.
Last call father made at 10:00 am California time, to awake him
in case he fall a sleep for classes. No answer. Have the neighbors
heard the call? How Kamil was dressed when he have been seen by
Liz Dedrick .????
